Building Wealth Book Study

Building Wealth Book Study

David Swenson ran the Yale U endowment and taught there. He was a star. He died a month or so ago. – Recommended to me by Kristian T.

Recently I have joined a small group of men and women in recovery who are interested in building wealth. I’m in on the ground floor at starting a new virtual meeting titled: DA Building Wealth Spiritually. On one of the first meetings we established a few thoughts to try and craft a great meeting.

 Size? Expand the group?
 Defining the scope/topic.
 Reading?
 Weekly?
 Format?
 Not about investment tips.
 Offshoot activities – 1 on 1 or so – (i.e.. the UA action
meeting formats.)
 Rotate service/leadership.
 Intimate topics – not an open meeting.
 Is this a vision group?
 Avoid being an “elite” group.
 Goals are relative; we do not measure by the absolute.
 No judgements.
 Lead by Group Conscience.
 Share feelings around the topic – part of recovery.

My idea is to suggest two complementary actions – 1. start a weekly special topic meeting in the DA framework open to all and 2. create a pod of 6 people total to meet weekly as a vision/action team. I suggest others may want to do the same and maybe 2 or 3 pods develop out of this seminal group and others form over time. There can be an announcement at the meeting that this is a side benefit/feature and there can be a service commitment (up to 3 months) to be the “Pod Coordinator.”
