Recently I took a webinar from Bill Good Marketing who helps accountants get more business and manage their client database. All of these screenshots came from him. I didn’t know there was a term for keeping your database up to date but “Campaign Ready” is exactly what that is and exactly what I have been doing since about age 10. Ever since I had the shoe shinning clients, I started gathering contact info and storing it.
Later as I great up, I had the palm pilot which I have previously blogged about. After the Palm Pilot, it was Microsoft Outlook where I kept and started really actively growing my database for postcard and for mailing letters to clients about pine straw.
When I went to sell my Pinestraw Plus business, I had 737 active clients who were ordering from the business once or twice a year. Plus, the database of 4,000 plus contacts to continually market to via direct mail. This was before the option of “unsubscribe” and digital email blasts.
Also, I don’t believe in delegating data entry like entering contact information into the CRM to someone who is like an intern or very low on the totem pole. This is the most important tool to keep current and needs to be worked in daily by the sales team.
