EXPENSIVE AIR? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? | Expensive air is another term for “conditioned air”. It is where the humidity is taken out of it. It’s already cooled or already heated. That’s what we call expensive air.

Recently, we were working with a building that had a massive negative airflow. When you open the door, it was hard to open because it was sucking in air from outside and it was hard to open the doors. Well, what’s the problem with that?

The problem that we see all the time at Total Comfort Solutions is all that expensive air gets contaminated with this outside air that’s hot and humid. The units are having to work overtime. It’s not efficient and increases the power bills, wears out the units faster because they’re having to work overtime, and the space is no longer conditioned.

Does your building have a positive or negative air flow?
