Hey Carleton,

What is the country in Africa that you are working on developing the
sustainable city? I was going to try and do some research on them before our
1pm call.

Thanks!
Matt

Hi Paul,
Good morning. We are making great progress with the regulatory folks here in SC thanks to your advice yesterday. I will keep you posted.
May we schedule a conference call for Monday with my international development partners and friends, Jim, Will, Carlton and Gizman? They are very interested and intrigued about this new technology and are wanting to discuss your invention and the opportunity to take this and incorporate it into all of their current and future projects.
I have attached their bios and look forward to connecting you with them. If Monday works and you have conference call number, please let us know what time is best.
Best regards,
Matt

Direct Invest, LLC

The Direct Invest Development LLC (“Direct Invest”) team is a venture headed by two seasoned professionals in the real estate development and investment industries, Carlton Brown and Gizman Abbas. The firm’s focus is the development of restorative human settlement that promotes innovation, social and economic inclusion and protects and preserves the natural environment for future generations. Much of their work, at its core, addresses the adaptations that Black and Brown communities must make in response to Climate Change-Rapid Urbanization-Global Population growth while at the same time returning a risk adjusted market rate of return to investors.

Carlton Brown was the founding partner of Full Spectrum NY, LLC one of the most prominent developers of green workforce housing in the country.  His work and leadership has been honored by the US Green Building Council; the Urban Land Institute; the Housing Partnership of New York; the Municipal Art Society; the Clinton Global Initiative; and many others who have acknowledged his leadership and vision in moving the development industry to the creation of more environmentally friendly and equitable development.  Mr. Brown has had leadership responsibility for the development of several new residential and mixed-use buildings that have changed the way people think about building in New York City, nationally and globally.  Those projects included The Solaire at Battery Park City; 1400 Fifth Ave in Harlem and the Kalahari Condominium in Harlem.  Each of the projects set a new standard for design, building performance and ultimately contributed to a market transformation. Based on his work of successful transformation in New York City, Mr. Brown has been engaged by several US cities to consult on strategies for encouraging equitable development in disinvested portions of cities.  Those cities include Louisville KY; Charlotte NC; Nashville TN, and Birmingham Al.  Mr. Brown has also been consulting in the international market on sustainable urban redevelopment strategies with Tata Steel’s development of a new master plan for the city of Jamshedpur India, and developments in Senegal, South Africa and Rwanda focused on creating sustainable/livable communities in rural and peri-urban sub-Sharan Africa.

Gizman Abbas received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University and worked at Exxon Mobil Corporation as a Senior Project Engineer managing large construction projects in the power and oil & gas sectors including power transmission, pipelines and gas processing facilities.  After a number of years in the engineering and construction businesses, Mr. Abbas attended Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business where he earned his MBA. After receiving his MBA, Mr. Abbas began his finance career at Morgan Stanley where he advised corporations in merger and acquisitions, IPOs and various other management matters.  He then moved on to Goldman Sachs.  At Goldman, he used his engineering experience and finance knowledge to invest initially in the power space and eventually the commodity space developing expertise in the oil & gas, power, bio-fuels, metals & mining and agriculture sectors.  His success at Goldman Sachs resulted in him being invited to be a partner and founder of a new commodity investment business at Apollo Global Management, one of the largest private equity businesses in the world with over $160 billion under management. While at Apollo he was the lead on energy investments including investments in the renewable energy market. In 2011, seeing opportunities in the real estate sector, Mr. Abbas left Apollo to launch a real estate development business. Since he started his development company, he has developed a townhouse and boutique condominium building (449washington.com) in the TriBeCa section of Manhattan.
