Why in the world did I get into working for a mechanical contracting company? Where did that I come from? Well, I had a solar business for five years, and let me tell you what happened.
A lot of times, I’d be talking solar with folks, and I’d look at the power bills, right? Sometimes they would be just ridiculous.
And I would say, how is the building performance looking?
Did you know half of the power bill in commercial buildings come directly from cooling and heating the place? I mean, HALF the power bill. So that’s how I got to where I am today. It’s like, these folks need help. These buildings need help. A lot of them are very inefficient. Many are running all night and all during the day. Running all during the night with no sense of controls, no occupancy sensors, etc.
Many times their equipment not being cleaned correctly, so the coils are caked with dust and dirt, so the units have to work overtime, which means they’re pulling a whole lot more energy.
So that’s kind of how I got into where I at today. Many of the systems that I’m talking to folks about, so many of the buildings, they’re on a very reactive plan, which means when things fail, they call somebody. Everybody has a guy. Everybody has somebody that they deal with to come and repair their system.
Well, what if we had something set up where you never had to call because your systems didn’t go down? What’s crazy is we had a client reach out to us last week just to say, hey, thank you for us not having to make a service call. They called us to let us know
that they were happy that they haven’t had to make a service call!
I mean, who would have thought that was even possible? There is a better way. And the better way is through preventative maintenance.
