347: If marketing to a city, consider sending an intriguing email to whole state | Path to Warren Podcast 347 Transcript

Good afternoon. Path to Warren podcast. This is Matt Warren. It’s episode 347. Today is a gorgeous Friday night. It is February 18, 2022. I got signed up today to do my first flight. Now I’ve flown in small planes before, but tomorrow at 11:00 I’ve got what they call my Discovery flight lined up and I’m really excited about it. I’m going to be able to get to know the flight instructor at Owensfield Airport, which is an airport about five minutes from my house. Pretty excited about that and I hope I’ll get along with him and hopefully I can sign up for him to help me with some coaching on learning how to fly and pass this knowledge test. I’ve been studying a while for it and I’m trying to find a coach just to help me and coach me through some of these concepts. So I’m really excited about that. I’m pulling into town from a nice trip to Birmingham, Alabama. I had a really nice time. There were many lawyers that I met with and dropped off material at their offices, had lunch with a great insurance adjuster today that we have worked for several times. And so it was really nice to catch up with him and learn a little bit more about his background. Today, I left Birmingham around 12:00. By the time we got eaten lunch, we did an early lunch, had a really good hotel stay at the Hyatt in downtown Birmingham. I am excited about going to dinner tonight with my dad and mom to celebrate his birthday. That should be a good time. I’ll take Maddie and go to M Vista because Maddie loves to eat sushi with Granddaddy. So I hope you have a good weekend. I just wanted to check in and say a little bit about how things went on my trip to Birmingham. As far as marketing and business development lessons, one thing is pretty cool that I did this time. I sent an email to everybody in Alabama, which is several hundred emails. People in Alabama saying that I was going to be in Birmingham. Well, no saying that I was going to be in Alabama. And I put on the email little pictures of our team of experts. I’ve got each expert with their expertise, which you can find on our website along with so if you hover over their picture, it’s a hyperlink. I linked them to go straight to their page on our website and I sent that out to the I’m pretty sure it was over 1000, but I sent that out to all of the clients and prospective clients in Alabama. And sure enough, I had two of them respond. One of them was down in Mobile and they had a case for Tom, our electrical engineer, and the other one was for this guy responded and wanted to meet. He was out of Dotham, I think, but he had recently moved to Birmingham. Is that if I would have just sent the email to everybody in our database that’s under Birmingham. I would have missed these two cases because the one guy that moved from Dothan to Birmingham he’s now in Birmingham. He’s been there six months and how was I to know had moved? Right. But I met with him and sure enough, he’s got two cases. We opened up two of his cases today. I met with him yesterday at 2:30 so right when I got into town I had a few minutes. I found his office, went by a local coffee shop. I had about 45 minutes or so. I sat in the coffee shop. I did my Journal, did my gratitude list. I created my list of things to do for the rest of the afternoon and I also pulled up several law offices that were around the location that I was going to meet this guy 230. I pulled those guys up on easymapmaker.com and I was able to see who was where. So once I got out of my appointment with the 2:30, I then went to dropped off materials and did office visits for five more law firms before the 5:00 hour was up. Granted, there was one. I walked in there at 4:45 knowing that the lawyer would probably not be there. It was still great to drop off things there and say hello and I met the paralegal so that was cool. So the lesson there is if you’re going to be in a city why not send the email to everybody in the whole state? Why not, right? It’s not like I’ve been bombarding them with emails so the challenge is to come up with a creative copy come up with a creative email that is intriguing, that causes them to reply or want to meet with you. That’s the creative part and that’s the part that takes skill. Hope you enjoyed this podcast. I am pulling into the driveway turn around and show you my house here. For those that haven’t seen it pulling into the driveway hope you have a wonderful day and remember as Mama always says make your contribution. Talk to you later. Bye.
