Containers will be the way of the future

Containers will be the way of the future

Shipping containers are stacking up around the country as imports of goods have increased from around the world. This is a subject that I am extremely passionate about. I want to mass produce private, secure, off-the-grid grow-sites that are based on repurposed shipping container.

This photo is from a company that is already producing these growsites for cannabis production. The climate controls, water filtration and LED lights can be powered by solar panels. I assembled this array from 16 solar panels that I bought piece-meal as I could afford it. You can see there are three different types panels in this array. I made the racking system out of 2x4s and wood screws. It was the most efficient system.

What I learned is that this array, assembled in this method can fit directly on top of the shipping container. The solar hybrid generator that I used maxed out at 8 panels per circuit and had two circuits…so this was optimal. I plan to manufacture a racking system for these panels that will fit securely on top of the shipping containers.

The containers can actually be buried and no one will know they are even there. So even thought people don’t want the container in their back yard because of asthetics, this allows for a spiral staircase down underground where the growsite can be situated. The growsites do not have to grow cannabis, they can be kale, spinach, a mix of greens or veggies…it doesn’t matter.
